Evening of Good Food and Great Company

3 weeks ago, Ben, Peggy, Zinnia and myself headed down towards my company’s sister outlet for dinner. The initial motive for choosing there, was the bistro’s child-friendly facilities – Evelyn was coming with baby Amos. Unfortunately, the little one fell sick, and so mother and child had to give dinner a miss.

So we have it, 4 of us, happily camping in the interior section of the restaurant, because of the hot climate that evening. Itching for a good bottle of wine, Ben started urging us to order a bottle from the start of the dinner, only to have us say “Wait…we’ll have it at dessert”.

Lots of jokes, lots of catching up, and good food filled the evening. Calamari salad was crisp and light. Pasta was cooked just right. Sandwiches were toasted to light brown and crispy. YUM!

And yes, we did open that bottle of Botrytis Semillon that Ben was after. Personally, it was a bit too sweet for my tongue. But Peggy, our non-wine drinker, loved it at first taste and quickly finished her glass.
